Physical Activity at Home, Work and Play
Adding activity into your day is possible. Choose activities that you enjoy. Adults should aim for at least 2½ hours or 150 minutes of physical activity each week. Every little bit adds up, and doing something is better than doing nothing. Most important—have fun while being active!
When I shared that Finger Lakes Eat Smart New York started a “Rethink Your Drink” campaign, one mother exclaimed that she and her nine-year-old daughter just saw one of the billboards. It prompted a conversation about healthy beverage choices, to limit soda and reach for low fat milk and water instead. Later that day her daughter reached for a soda from the refrigerator, paused, looked at her Mom and said, “not a healthy choice, right?” Then she put it back and helped herself to a glass of water instead.
