Cut Down on Sodium
Eating too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure can raise your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Try these tips to reduce sodium in your diet.
MyPlate for My Family workshop participants started eating foods that they reported that they would never eat, such as butternut squash in the Creamy Macaroni and Cheese recipe the group prepared. I heard, “I can’t tell that the squash is even in there!" and “I really like this, I think it’s better than any macaroni and cheese I’ve ever eaten."
